SYNOPSIS:
Normal is so overrated. At least that's what
seventeen-year-old Kate Triumph tells herself everyday. But the truth is she
lives in constant fear that someone will discover how not normal she really is.
With her startling speed and her unusual ability to heal, Kate believes she's
something of a freak.
Then Andrew Shore arrives.
He claims he's her father, sticks around for a few days and leaves her a plane ticket. “Come to Mercer Island,” he says. “Give me a chance to get to know you.” Soon Kate is floundering in a world of new: new address, new car, new high school and, of course, new father. Not to mention Zack, her intriguing new neighbor, who makes her want to abandon her steadfast rule of never allowing anyone to get too close. But when she discovers someone is trying to kill her, life for Kate gets a bit more complicated. And a lot less normal.

My Review
Kate's life is all but normal. Always being moved around, she was never able to make friends. You see, Kate has a secret, and because of that secret, there are times that they have to move quickly.
Kate is fast, and the star of the track team...Beating records even though she has to restrain from her full potential. She has the respect of many, however there are others that are envious of her athletic ability. Kate takes the bullying in stride. When something horrific happens, Kate's life is changed, she learns more about her past, and the action really begins.
I. Loved. This. Book
Once I started, I couldn't put it down. It is one of those stories that you crave to learn more about the characters, love their personalities, and REALLY want the ending to go as you wish. It has tons of action, complete surprises, romance...it has it all for a great read. I loved that Kate was a strong character and didn't seemed fazed by what was thrown at her. She went through a lot, however she ended up with a strong support system that she never knew existed.
This story really stayed with me after I finished. Little things around me reminded me of it and you know, to me that makes for a great read....when it sticks with out long after it's over. Sometimes I get sad when this kind of book ends!
The ending, WOW...completely unexpected. I was thrilled how it ended. I was wondering how the "second" story was going to weave its way through. Intrigued? You should be...this book is amazing !
