THE COLD IS IN HER BONES by Peternelle van Arsdale Nerd Blast

SYNOPSIS

One girl must uncover secrets of the past to save her friend from a terrible curse in this dark and mesmerizing story of love, revenge, and redemption inspired by the myth of Medusa.

Milla knows two things to be true: Demons are real, and fear will keep her safe.

Milla’s whole world is her family’s farm. She is never allowed to travel to the village and her only friend is her beloved older brother, Niklas. When a bright-eyed girl named Iris comes to stay, Milla hopes her loneliness might finally be coming to an end. But Iris has a secret she’s forbidden to share: The village is cursed by a demon who possesses girls at random, and the townspeople live in terror of who it will come for next.

Now, it seems, the demon has come for Iris. When Iris is captured and imprisoned with other possessed girls, Milla leaves home to rescue her and break the curse forever. Her only company on the journey is a terrible new secret of her own: Milla is changing, too, and may soon be a demon herself.

Suspenseful and vividly imagined, The Cold Is in Her Bones is a novel about the dark, reverberating power of pain, the yearning to be seen and understood, and the fragile optimism of love.

“A fresh, eerily compelling tale of betrayal, revenge, and the ties that bind. When van Arsdale paints a world, you can feel the fog against your skin.” ―Elly Blake, New York Times bestselling author of The Frostblood Saga

The curious flight patterns of crows lead a teen computer programmer down a path of mystery and romance.

Gin trusts logic a little too much. She even designs programs to decide what to eat and how to spend her time. All that changes when she’s paired with a new transfer student, Felix, on a computer modeling assignment to explain certain anomalies in the behavior of crows.

As she enters Felix’s world and digs further into the data behind crow behavior, Gin uncovers a terrible secret. And the wrong decision could equal disaster squared . . .

You can purchase Crow Flight at the following Retailers:

Praise for CROW FLIGHT

"You'll adore Gin, who's determined to apply her brilliant computer skills to the mysteries of love... and in doing so, finds herself caught up in high-stakes intrigue. We cheer her on as she learns to trust her gut and heart along with her tech-savvy mind. CROW FLIGHT is a soaring debut from an author to watch." Laura Resau, author of RED GLASS

"A timely, fun story that flies across the pages and into your heart. A romantic tale with intriguing content, Cunningham delivers a compelling read about the predictability of life and love. Donna Cooner, author of SKINNY and SCREENSHOT

"Crow Flight is a delicious novel. Gin has decided what her life should look like - and it involves logic, equations, computer models, coding, ambition, and over-achieving. An unexpected twist forces her to reconsider, and rather suddenly she finds herself in new territory - a path that calls forth the heart, the willingness to adventure, and most importantly, an effort at finding and honoring the immaterial truth. When an English teacher asks her to consider Victor Hugo's contention that 'One must have bread, but before bread, one must have the ideal,' she boldly launches forth into a world of discovery, romance, and danger. This book, like Gin's adventure, is a beauty." Laura Pritchett, winner of the PEN USA Award in Fiction

Ten Ways you Get Inspired to Write

1.       Brainstorm the story through journaling.

2.      Research things that interest me (like crows!).

3.      Collage! It’s a perfect way to brainstorm a story without having to write, and it can provide great insights to what the story is actually about.

4.      Go on an “Artist Date” to fill my well with images and ideas (per Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way).

5.      Read really great books.

6.      Read about the authors who wrote those really great books, and learn that almost all of them have had struggles with writing.

7.      Remember that I can edit a bad page, but I can’t edit a blank page.

8.      Go outside. Walk or job, bike or ski. Just breathing the fresh air and feeling my body move through the world helps me get out of my brain and into my heart.

9.      Clean, organize, do laundry. If my writing space is put together, it’s easier for the creativity to flow.

10.   Start writing. Beginning is always the hardest part. But if I make myself sit in a chair and just begin, I’m often surprised to see how creativity is sparked by the work of doing.

My Review

Gin has big dreams and has set high goals for herself. Get into Harvard. She is a genius with computer programming and making models to control her everyday life. Good thing she has a best friend named Hannah to keep her a little bit grounded and try to actually enjoy her senior year.

None of her apps, however, factored in a new student named Felix, who is also brilliant with modeling, and  also extremely rich with his father owning the biggest Tech company around. Gin worries that this distraction might interfere with the course she has planned, but maybe it would be a good thing.  Gin is curious about Felix, his obsession with crow, and when they get paired up for a project in class, she is finally able to figure Felix out a little and discover they have more in common than she thought.

OMGawd this story was so fun to read.  I plowed through it wanting so badly to learn more about these crows!  How fascinating and creative this story is with a love story tangled with a mystery that will totally surprise you!  Gin is an amazing character full of brilliance with a touch of nerdy, but deep down just an average teenage girl...and Felix, oh he made my heart just swoon!  The crows make a really cool story learning about how smart and loyal they are. Towards the end, Gin will totally surprise you....a fun twist to put a little excitement into the story.

You need to give this a go!  It was a really cute and fun fast read...I so wish I could tell you more about the story about I don't want to spoil it!

RELEASED TODAY: Book of Enchantresses by Mary Ting

Book of Enchantresses
Book 2 of the Book of Watchers Series

Synopsis

Keira is convinced her guardian, Ezekiel, knows more than he shared about her biological parents, and she will do everything she can to find out who they were. She secretly meets the powerful witch Awan at a nightclub and is promised the answers she seeks on one condition: she retrieves the legendary Book of Enchantresses. Keira, along with Uriel, Samyaza, Jonah, and her Nephilim friends, must travel to another realm in Gotjawal Forest on Jeju Island to recover the spell book. But nothing is free, and actions have consequences. When Keira’s team returns to their world, vampires attack a demon stronghold. No one knows who to blame, but the fragile peace has been rocked. And it’s about to get worse—Lucifer has escaped Hell.

My Review

The Watcher series continues with The Book of Enchantresses... an impeccable world full of action and unfathomable imagination, time will disappear as you are consumed by artistic characters and a fantastic story.

Keira wants to find out more about her parents and who they are. Learning this, she hopes to understand more about herself.  Uriel wants to free his family from the prison they are being held. Two objectives, both important, seem to collide when the Witches come to play. Awan, the last original with, makes promises to both Keira and Uriel if they help her to get the Book of Enchantresses..a Book of spells that was taken away and hidden from the witches.

And it's not wise to give a witch back her spellbook.

This book, well the whole series so far, has so much action and suspense, it is hard to contain the adrenaline that comes with reading....at times you have to think to yourself, slow down and enjoy the ride!!  I love the characters, and it never gets boring because new characters are introduced to keep the excitement flowing. A paranormal high with all your favorite good and bad guys from Angels, Nephilim, Vampires, Demons, and Witches...it is the perfect world to dive into to create that diversion from real life.

But not only is it a great and creative story, it tugs on the heartstrings when you watch the goodness unfold that the wicked hides deep inside.

You need to read this book!!

This book will be released  on Feb 21, 2019.

New Release: Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard

RELEASED TODAY!!!

SYNOPSIS

Fans of Susan Dennard's New York Times bestselling Witchlands series have fallen in love with the Bloodwitch Aeduan. And now, finally, comes his story.

High in a snowy mountain range, a monastery that holds more than just faith clings to the side of a cliff. Below, thwarted by a lake, a bloodthirsty horde of raiders await the coming of winter and the frozen path to destroy the sanctuary and its secrets.

The Bloodwitch Aeduan has teamed up with the Threadwitch Iseult and the magical girl Owl to stop the destruction. But to do so, he must confront his own father, and his past.

My Review

Coming in late for this series, since book one has been out for a while, truly made me happy because I could devour the books all at once! And WOW, is it a journey that is full, completely overflowing with action and suspense. EXACTLY what you need for an amazing fantasy world.

Bloodwitch continues the story with focus on the Bloodwitch Aeduan. You learn more about his story, as the full story continues.

This amazing story is full of twists, unexpected loyalties, twisted into a world where underlying plots have been years in the making. The creativity and planning that went into this plot shows incredible imagination. I have fallen head over heels for all the characters, as each mini story starts to gather speed and collide for the explosion that is yet to come.

Highly recommend this book....It is a hangover of a book!!

Mini Review: Nil On Fire by Lynne Matson Review

Despite Rives and Skye’s attempt to destroy Nil, the island remains. And back in this world, Nil won’t let Skye go. Haunted by a darkness she can’t ignore, Skye wrestles with Nil nightmares that worsen by the day and threaten to tear her apart. As Skye fights to keep her mind intact, she realizes that to finally break free of Nil, she must end Nil’s vicious cycle once and for all—and she can’t do it alone.

Who are Nil’s new arrivals? Who will return to the island? And who will survive in the end? In this final installment of the Nil series, the stakes have never been higher.

Losing isn’t an option, but winning will cost Skye everything.

MINI REVIEW

The last book in the series, ends with a BANG.  I can't tell you enough how I loved this story and how much fun it was to read.

I did have a little bit of a problem wrapping my mind around the fact that the Island had a "voice" in this last book, however I still enjoyed the whole story with how creative it was written, and fell head over heals for all the characters.

Give this series a serious consideration for your TBR pile, add it, get it, read and enjoy!!

THE DECEIVERS by Kristen Simmons Blog Tour

SYNOPSIS

Pretty Little Liars meets Ocean's 11 in this intrigue-filled contemporary drama from acclaimed author Kristen Simmons.

Welcome to Vale Hall, the school for aspiring con artists.

When Brynn Hilder is recruited to Vale, it seems like the elite academy is her chance to start over, away from her mom's loser boyfriend and her rundown neighborhood. But she soon learns that Vale chooses students not so much for their scholastic talent as for their extracurricular activities, such as her time spent conning rich North Shore kids out of their extravagant allowances.

At first, Brynn jumps at the chance to help the school in its mission to rid the city of corrupt officials--because what could be better than giving entitled jerks what they deserve? But that's before she meets her mark--a senator's son--and before she discovers the school's headmaster has secrets he'll stop at nothing to protect. As the lines between right and wrong blur, Brynn begins to realize she's in way over head.

Praise for THE DECEIVERS
"Brilliantly plotted, tightly paced, and intensely smart. The Deceivers is the perfect con, full of clever characters, untrustworthy romance, and lie after lie after lie, with just enough truth tossed in to make you question everything. Kristen Simmons is a deceptive genius. I could not devour this book fast enough." —Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Caraval

“Beneath its quick and clever dialogue, The Deceivers examines the moral grey area between good and evil. Lying has never seemed so much fun." —Katharine McGeeNew York Times bestselling author of the Thousandth Floor Trilogy

"Masterful, suspenseful, and brilliantly executed, The Deceivers is the perfect con. Kristen Simmons is an outstanding storyteller, and this is her best yet." —Amie KaufmanNew York Times bestselling author ofIlluminae and These Broken Stars

"Addictive and delicious, The Deceivers will keep you turning the pages well into the night!" —Katie McGarry, critically acclaimed author of Pushing the Limits

"Brynn is a sharp, analytical thinker with a soft heart - the exact kind of protagonist I love rooting for, especially as villains and heroes creep out from places I don't expect...Even the prerequisite romance was a pleasant surprise as Brynn and her love interest show complete respect for one another, giving enthusiastic consent the front seat it absolutely deserves and yet feels underrepresented in young adult literature. I devoured this book in one big gulp because I couldn't wait to see what twists and turns were ahead." —Kelly Morton, Joseph-Beth Booksellers

“The Deceivers is a perfectly paced, high stakes read that is honestly super fun for the reader. Don't plan on putting it down in the middle to do other things, you'll want to keep reading. Simmons has outdone herself with this incredible new story about con artists and a girl trying to find her own path.” —Rachel Strolle, Teen Librarian, Glenside Public Library District

Mini Review: Nil Unlocked by Lynne Matson

On the island of Nil, the rules are set. You have exactly 365 days to escape—or you die. Rives is now the undisputed Leader of Nil City, but keeping the City united is tougher than ever.

Raiders have grown bolder, supplies are dwindling, and non-human inhabitants have taken a turn toward the deadly. New arrivals cause rifts within the City, putting the Search system at risk, and calling everything Rives knows into question. Desperate for answers, he teams up with the only other person searching for them: Skye, a new arrival with a mysterious past of her own. Soon the duo find themselves locked in a desperate race to save all the residents of Nil—and possibly destroy the island forever. But at what cost? And who will pay the price?

My Review

Another one in the series that I absolutely LOVED!

This story is fast paced and gets a little more aggressive in the story. There are some changes happening to the island that is affecting everyone!

Same characters that you love, with new characters added to highlight the story, this is a fantastic dystopian type of read with all kinds of unexpected twists!

LOVE IT!
