The Spear that pierced Christ’s side on the Cross has played a secret, but major role in history. Charlemagne, Constantine, Otto the Barbarian, The Knights Templar and Adolf Hitler all owned it... and believed it gave them the power to rule the world.

What if they were right?

The first time Dr. Cait Monahan ever heard of the Spear of Longinus was the night her husband was murdered because of it. That was when the terror began.

…right before the U.S. Government, the CIA, Neo Nazis, the Vatican and a secret cabal of 13 powerful global manipulators sent their assassins after her and her 9 year old.

...just before a lethal secret propelled her across Europe following a riddle that hadn’t been solved since the Holocaust.

…just before Cait Monahan became entrapped in an interdimensional labyrinth that her own husband may have helped design.

Now she’s a player in a game that has led to mystery, magic, mayhem and murder for over 2000 years, and only the help of a tribunal of long dead men may be able to save her.

Vibrant and cerebral, filled with intrigue, Conspiracy Theory and more ancient secrets than the Dead Sea Scrolls, Lark’s Labyrinth pits characters you’ll care about against a mystery you’ll want to solve.

Inside Lark’s Labyrinth is a secret men have killed for …now a woman, her sister, her child and their small band of friends are all that stand between us and the dark, insidious power that’s a hairsbreadth away from ruling the world.

My Review

Lark's Labyrinth.... WOW...  I read that will baffle your imagination and take you on a roller coaster of a ride.

This story is full of mystery, conspiracy theories, murder, ancient relics, secret societies, with a touch of supernatural. It begins with the crucifixion of Christ and the Sword of Longinus, to World War 2, to present day where the caregiver of the sword is murdered.

You must read this story to appreciate the complex storyline and experience the pure beauty of good versus evil.

True facts through history combined with creative imagination makes this story a fantastic historical fiction.

The characters become real in your mind's eye. Emotions come flying out of your heart. Reality seems to slip away the deeper you plunge yourself into the story and try to figure out the clues to solve the mystery.  It is full of twists that always keep you guessing.

I so wish I could talk more about EVERYTHING that is packed into this story, but wow, you just need to read it yourself.  I will never spoil a book!!

Move over Dan Brown, you have competition.

My Review

*I just want to say that I am still in the process of reading this book. I am sorry, however I am dealing with some health issues at this time.*

Despite that, I am LOVING this story. I love the different point of views, and how the story unfolds from all of the different angles.  I love the plot line, and this creative twist to this curse on these quadruplets is outstanding!!  As the story progresses, you learn so much about the Claires and what makes them tick.  And V, man, she is demented and twisted.

I will add more when I get this finished, but so far, this read is Awesome!!

BETWEEN WILD & RUIN by Jennifer G. Edelson Official Blog Tour

Paperback: 414 pages
Publisher: Bad Apple Books (October 6, 2019)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1733514007
ISBN-13: 978-1733514002

Praise for BETWEEN WILD & RUIN

“What could be a corny premise turns into an exhilarating, fun ride in Edelson’s adept hands. Her characters are smartly drawn, and readers will easily identify with Ruby, a strong yet insecure young artist on the verge of adulthood, who is still recovering from her tragic past . . . Fans of Twilight and modern fairy tales will fall in love with Ruby and root for her eventual romance.” — Blue Ink Review (Starred Review)

“Between Wild and Ruin is a stunning story of legends, romance, and destiny with themes of starting over, small towns, beauty, and community . . . Edelson perfectly breathes new life in mythology by honoring the oral tradition of a small community and the ruins that bring to life Ruby's destiny.” — Manhattan Book Review

“Highly recommended to mature teens through new adult and adult audiences, this is a story that lingers in the mind long after its final revelation.” — Midwest Book Review

“A great addition to young adult urban fantasy.” — Seattle Book Review

“Descriptions of the New Mexico landscape are rich and atmospheric, arousing the senses with references to the scent of smoke and juniper, the predatory roar of mountain lions, and the brilliant dazzle of stars in the desert sky . . . The writing conveys a sense of timelessness, making it easy to believe Ruby’s sense that the land is spirit-haunted and that Leo, the handsome young man she encounters near the ruins, is somehow connected to it all.” — Clarion Forward

“An intriguing historical tale and an over-the-top love-quadrangle romance.” — Kirkus Reviews

“The paranormal aspects of the tale are credible and richly steeped in traditional lore, and the plot is finely crafted . . . Between Wild and Ruin is most highly recommended.” — Reader’s Favorite (5-Star Review)

Truth, like love, isn't always obvious.

Seventeen-year-old Ruby Brooks has never had a boyfriend. After moving to small-town La Luna, New Mexico following her mother’s untimely death, boys aren’t even on her radar. Ruby just wants to forget the last horrible year and blend in. But when she discovers an ancient pueblo ruin in the forest behind her house, and meets Ezra, a bitter recluse whose once-perfect face was destroyed in an accident he won’t talk about; Angel, La Luna’s handsome sheriff’s deputy, and Leo, a stranger who only appears near the ruin, Ruby finds herself teetering between love, mystery, and other worlds. What happened to Ezra’s face? And why is she so attracted to the one boy in town everyone despises? As Ruby unravels her own connections to both Ezra and the pueblo ruin, she’ll learn surfaces are deceiving. Especially in the heart of New Mexico, where spirits and legends aren’t always just campfire stories.

Set against a Northern New Mexico backdrop, Between Wild and Ruin is a young adult coming-of-age story that captures the wild and whimsical pulse of New Mexico through the eyes of teens Ruby Brooks, Angel Ruiz, and Ezra Lucero. The first book in the Wild and Ruin series, Between Wild and Ruin explores the time-tested credo ‘never judge a book by its cover’ through a paranormal lens, weaving Puebloan and Hispanic folklore and Southwest cultural narratives into tightly written, high-concept fiction ‘brimming with mystery, intrigue,’ and as Kirkus Reviews puts it, an “intriguing historical drama and an over-the top quadrangle romance.”

My Review

Goosebumps immediately raises the hairs on my arms when I think of this fantastic fantasy.

Ruby moves to a secluded community in Arizona after the death of her mother. Living with her Aunt Libby, she is trying to put her life back together after the tragic lost. However, she keeps this a secret from her new friends she meets.

When Ruby explores the mountain behind her home, she discovers a ruin.... it's secluded, and she can tell that it is very old. The area around it feels still, except for a humming that calls deep to her bones.  It soon becomes her favorite place to draw...and one day she meets a boy named Leo. He fascinates her and frustrates her all at the same time.  Then she meets a young deputy, who is only four years older than her, and a social outcast with a scared faced named Ezra.  How can she be drawn to three guys when she has never had a boyfriend before?

When unexplained things happen, Ruby wonders if she is losing her mind. The adventure begins and Ruby will learn more about herself.

This story was such a joy to read. I loved the folklore and myths woven into this creative story. This story is full of heart throbs, each with a different personality that really kept it interesting.  All the characters meshed well with each other, right down to Ruby and a so called friend-enemy that you will just want to slap. Ruby is a strong character, and I respect how she stayed true to herself and did't let others influence her.  Lots of twist kept this journey flowing, and I was really sad when it ended.  At times I got those first love butterflies that I am sure Ruby felt.

This is a read you don't want to miss. Loved it from the very first page to the very last!!

Helix by Mary Ting Blog Tour and Giveaway

Helix
Mary Ting
(International Sensory Assassin Network #2)
Published by: Vesuvian Books
Publication date: September 10th 2019
Genres: Dystopian, Science Fiction, Young Adult
Alliances are forming. The resistance is growing. Everything is about to change.
With her memory still fragmented, Ava returns to the International Sensory Assassin Network (ISAN) to find the twin sister she never knew she had.
But as Ava hunts for information, she finds herself tangled in a web of yet more lies and conspiracy. The Helix serum may not be required to access her superpowers, and the number of male assassins—previously considered too volatile to tolerate Helix—is growing in every territory.
The more Ava uncovers, the more of a threat she becomes to ISAN. Her only salvation may be to join the rebels—if she isn’t killed first.

My Review

Helix is the second installment in the ISAN series...thank god there is going to be five books in this series because I just don't want it to end.

This story heats up with complex conspiracies, tangled twists, and action...action..action...
SO much happens in this story, you have to be alert at all times because you will never guess or expect what will happen. Some secrets will be revealed, while others just get deeper and mysterious.

The characters are amazing....I was content to be back into Ava and Rhett's world....a damaged world that still holds hope. Your favorite resistance characters are still strong, shedding light humor during difficult times. Ava's team, still loyal...ahem...most of them.. and amazing new characters that plays critical rolls.

Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster...your heart will soar, it will ache in pain, it will beat with an adrenaline rush, it will be crushed with agony, like I said, a roller coaster.

This story, book, world has everything, and I mean everything for a fantastic read to escape from everyday life...and that my friends, is what makes reading worthwhile.

Book Synopsis

An inquisitive polar bear named Duane befriends an array of animals as he discovers where he belongs in this charming classic-in-the making that’s reminiscent of Winnie the Pooh.

Duane is a sweet and curious young bear who makes friends with everyone he meets—whether they’re bossy, like Major Puff the puffin, or a bit vain, like Handsome the musk ox, or very, very shy, like Boo the caribou. For these arctic friends, every day is a new adventure!

My Review

What a wonderful read for the whole family...grab a blanket, because it's cold in the Very, Very Far North...and go on an adventure with Duane!

Duane's innocence shines through with humor as he decides to make a home in the Very, Very far north, making new friends, discoveries, and adventures.  With each new friend he meets, he learns more about himself and his friends wacky personalities.

However, what is TRULY amazing about this story is the subtle lessons you learn while reading....keeping boundaries, listening to your instincts, and so much more....pretty sneaky and brilliant all at the same time!

A beautiful story full of virtue, it's timeless and will be a favorite bedtime read.
