Entangled Teen

Summary from Goodreads:
Reality is only an illusion.
Except for those who can control it…

Worst. Birthday. Ever.
My first boyfriend dumped me – happy birthday, Josie!- my dad is who knows where, I have some weird virus that makes me want to hurl, and now my ex is licking another girl’s tonsils. Oh, and I’m officially the same age as my brother was when he died. Yeah, today is about as fun-filled as the swamps of Dagobah. But then weird things start happening…

Like I make something materialize just by thinking about it.
When hot badass Reid Wentworth shows up on a motorcycle, everything changes. Like, everything. Who I am. My family. What really happened to my brother. Existence. I am Oculi, and I have the ability to change reality with my thoughts. Now Reid, in all his hotness, is charged with guiding and protecting me as I begin learning how to bend reality. And he’s the only thing standing between me and the secret organization that wants me dead…

My Review

Anomaly rates high on the richter scale with originality, suspense, and imagination that creates an escape from our reality.

Josie's day sucks. Her boyfriend breaks up with her, she feels sick, and this guy kind of starts to stalk her.  Her brother, best friend, is gone, and her parents, well, aren't the warmest.  Her dad has been gone for weeks for work without word...which just makes her birthday grand.

So that guy, Reid, enters her life and gives her a bit of information that Josie tries to grasp. She is an Oculi..she can change reality with her thoughts.  When Reid takes her for a motorcycle ride to prove this, they are attacked, and Josie begins to realize that her life is changing forever.

With the help of Reid and his friend Santos, they will protect Josie from those out to harm her, and teach her how to use her powers.  Josie is special, and her Oculi powers might be what they need to change everything.

First of all, I fell for this book the first time I saw the cover at ALA Vegas this year. Yeah, funny story, I was looking at it and asked this girl if she could tell me about the book...Guess what, it was none other than Tonya herself!

Anomaly starts with speed and never lets up.  It is packed with suspense at every turn, with twists that keeps a great story never leaving your hands.  The characters are so stinking cool, you will fall for them immediately.  Josie, with everything thrown at her, takes it all in stride and proves to be a natural.  Her family life is anything but normal, with being home schooled and moving around a lot, however you will find this was important to her conditioning.  This keeps the story fast paced, no dragging your feet through the sand with this one.  Along with the suspense and creative plot, there is humor that made me laugh out loud....love the Star Wars references, total geek here!  Reid, well, lets just say that he is super hot and just plain goodness, even with his few faults.

(ACCCK!!  I find it so difficult at times to not spill spoilers about a book I am so passionate about!!)

The words just disappeared off the page and I was lost in Josie's reality.  Anomaly has it all...totally creative and planned out perfectly.  It left me with a book hangover, no doubt.
