The voice inside me is breaking free. I can’t stop it.Some call VisionCrest the pinnacle of religious enlightenment. Others call it a powerful cult. For seventeen years, Harlow Wintergreen has called it her life.As the daughter of VisionCrest’s patriarch, Harlow is expected to be perfect at all times. She must be considered a paragon of integrity by the other Ministry teens and a future leader in the eyes of the world.Despite the constant scrutiny Harlow is keeping a dark and dangerous secret, even from her best friend and the boy she loves. She hears a voice in her head that seems to have a mind of its own, plaguing her with violent and bloody visions. It commands her to kill. And the urge to obey is getting harder and harder to control….

Violet Hour is a dark novel about a new religion that is taking the world by storm.
Vision Crest may be a powerful religion in the belief of the dedicated followers, or a extreme cult that has stretched across the globe. Harlow is the daughter of the famous Patriarch, founder of the new religion. However, Harlow has been struggling with a dark secret all to herself...she is hearing voices and seeing horrible visions of death and destruction. Getting to the point where she can't bare it alone, she finally confides in a few close friends.
With followers disappearing, Harlow realizes that she's not going crazy. With the help of her friends, one in particular that she has trusted all her life, she digs into VisionCrest's past, and discovers what she needs to do to protect the ones she cares about.
Violet Hour is full of unexpected twists and turns throughout the whole story. It's dark, gruesome at times, and has complete mystery. It is quite unique. Harlow is a very strong character, having to deal with all the horror that she sees. She is strong and willing to risk herself to do what is right, and protect her friends. Harlow has a lot of mystery about herself, which I feel there is so much more to be revealed about her. Even though she has some trust issues, her friends have her back. It's a very exciting story, which I totally loved. The whole idea of this new religion was brilliantly thought out and very well written. I loved how the story was set in different parts of the world, giving me a glimpse into places I will never get a chance to visit. I also thought that was very original. Once I got started, it was a fast paced read that I could not put down. WOW, how it ended, will throw you for a loop, and is one of the biggest cliff hangers that I have ever read. So yeah, I'm pumped up for the sequel, because the ending left the story deeply embedded in my brain for days.
So, altogether, I really enjoyed this read. It was great to read a dark story with lots of action for a change.
