An Angel Torched My Homework and Other Lies by Miche Sipes Nerd Blast and Giveaway

Check out the Main Post at the Fabulous Jean Book Nerd HERE

Synopsis

Carrie Philips just wants her junior year at Clement Academy to go smoothly. Sure, it’s the first high school in the nation to integrate Norms like her with the Differents. But the Diffs are just typical teenagers with “tiny” genetic anomalies. They’re not really vampires or werewolves or angels or zombies like you see in old movies. The Diffs just have special dietary needs and some unusual abilities. They’re certainly not dangerous or anything—at least that’s what Carrie has always believed, since her dad is a doctor of Different medicine.

But when several of her fellow students are mysteriously assaulted, cracks form in Carrie’s worldview. Cracks she tries to ignore while defending her friends from anti-Diff backlash and solving the mystery of who’s really behind the attacks. Meanwhile, she’s distracted by two criminally cute guys who both seem to like her (and hate each other). Then Carrie uncovers a bombshell that could forever change how Norms and Diffs see each other. So much for a quiet school year.

"What happens when you combine vampires, angels, werewolves and zombies with normal humans? Supernatural insanity! Miche Sipes has created a clever world, filled with lovable characters, unexpected plot twists and lots of humor. I loved this book. 5 stars!" --Lynda Hilburn, author of the Kismet Knight, Vampire Psychologist series

"A refreshing, hilarious blend of every paranormal creature under the sun (or moon), heavy on the fun and light on the angst!" -- Helen Keeble, author of Fang Girl and No Angel

Mugs of Love by Norma Jeanne Karlsson Review

Published December 22nd 2014 by It's Publishing

Synopsis

Serving promise, one cup at a time.

When his world came crashing down around him, Garrett Sharp didn’t run. He stood like the man he is and took his punishment. Eight years later, he finds himself in a new life. It’s not the life he grew up believing he would live, but it’s a life all the same, albeit numb and empty. Well, not entirely.

Every day across the street from his furniture store, Garrett steals moments full of warmth from Emily Garner. As she floats happily through her coffee shop, Emily provides him glimpses into her soul. She’s pure and full of life in a way Garrett’s never experienced. He’s never heard her voice and doesn’t know the color of her eyes. But he knows she lights up like a beacon when she serves coffee to couples on their first dates. Emily can feel the tingles of new love even when she’s not the one experiencing the thrill. And Garrett can feel Emily’s joy from across the street.

When Emily finally enters Garrett’s store for the first time six months after he opens, both their lives change. Garrett must battle the demons of his past to be a man worthy of the woman he’s fallen for from afar. Emily has to move beyond her ex-boyfriend and his betrayals to find trust again. If it were only the past challenging Emily and Garrett, their story would be easy.

Life is never easy.

My Review

First of all, if you know ANYTHING about Norma's style of writing, she is the QUEEN of writing about Alpha males.  I knew better than to be disappointed with Mugs of Love.  AND, if you think Mugs of Love is going to be a sappy novel, think again.

Did you read the Synopsis?

Emily is sweet, cute and just happy with life.  She loves to watch couples get together at the "date table", as she sometimes give the nervous customers a little boost of encouragement.  Emily has her life together, however she is having problems with an ex that just doesn't seem to get the hint.  When she meets Garrett, her world turns upside down with want and possibilities.

First off, this story is full of suspense and awesome twists.  It is fast paced, and I found it completely difficult to put down.  Emily's rambling when she is around Garrett is extremely funny and honest.  I love how he makes her squirm.  I just love Emily's personality.  Garrett is hot, has a dramatic past, however is trying to live right.  Emily is just what he needs in his life, whether he wants her to be or not....and OH how he can't get her out of his head.  This story is not what you expected.  It has dark moments, excitement, and keeps you at the edge of your seat.  I just LOVE the unexpected!!  And this novel has a lot of it!  I fell for all the characters in this story.  Each has a unique personality, and it is amazing how they all clicked together perfectly.

I love Norma's style of writing. I can't get enough.  How she comes up with her plots is just amazing....and how she can make one word seem so sexy is incredible.  "Mouth"

You need to read Mugs of Love.  Read EVERYTHING Norma writes.

The Cellar by T.M. Smith Blog Tour, Review, Top Ten, and Givaway

Synopsis

It's time to learn the truth about what happened that day in The Cellar.

Taryn and Thanos are the formidable Ambassadors of House Orion. Taryn was born into power, bred from birth to lead the people of Greece along with his sister Theresa, Thanos was never a part of his mother's plan. The son of a fisherman was not a suitable match for the son of Greece as far as their mother was concerned, but Taryn always takes what he wants.

The Cellar is the story of how these two men met and fell in love, and what lengths Taryn went to, to ensure he kept his man. This novella also contains a more detailed accounting of what happened the night Raven and Tanis went for a walk on the beach, and the adult version of Mistletoe and Mayhem that was initially released as a free short through goodreads.

The Cellar is the second novella in the Opposites series, the series should be read in order.

** Warning, Opposites is an Adult Dystopian majorly M/M series that contains explicit sexual content and relationships between gay, straight and lesbian couples. However, The Cellar is strictly a M/M novella **

Top Ten List - Things you would change about your high school years if you could go back in time.

~ The clothes. Seriously, tell me why we ever thought shoulder pads were okay?
~ Crimping Irons.
~ Hair bands, not the music per say, but the hair. I think that global warming started in the eighties as copious amounts of aqua net were released into the atmosphere.
~ Make up! Lord what ever made me think that blue eyeshadow and black eyeliner were my thing.
~ Izods, Ugh!
~ Hammer Pants and those pants with all the zippers on them. Really?!
~ Rubiks fucking cube! Did anyone ever actually solve this damn thing, or just peel and rearrange the stickers. Not that I did that, just thought it.
~ Leg Warmers, what the fuck?!
~ Cliques. They are damaging to young people to this day.

~ Bullies, not necessarily to be confused with Cliques though they are often one in the same. While I didn’t have cyber bullies in my time, hell we didn’t even have the internet or cell phones when I was in school! It makes me long for the good old days when school lockers were the bullies weapon of choice.

My Review

The Cellar is a novella that finally reveals what happened in the cellar between Taryn and Thanos.  Taryn's mother didn't feel that Thanos was worthy of Taryn, and went to great lengths to pull them apart. So, Taryn went even farther to make sure the love of his life will forever stay with him.

This is the first novella that I have read in the Opposite series.  I look forward to reading this series from the beginning.  However, even though I just dived in with this one, I felt at ease knowing what was going on in the story. I had just a little problem following the names that seemed to be so similar, but I am thinking since I just dived into this story, it's probably just me.  Being  a novella, it was a fast read that I finished in one sitting...SCORE!

It is a hot a steamy story, and I recommend it for mature audiences.

Now that I have a taste of this series, I look forward to the rest.  It spiked my interest.  I usually don't read stories with this much hot sexy scenes, but thinking I should branch out a bit. (wink*wink*)  The love is real, family bonds are tight, and I look forward to the direction this story takes.

MEMORY OF WATER blog tour

Check out the Master post at Me, My Shelf, and I.

About The Book:

Memory Of Water
Author: Emmi Itaranta
Release Date: June 10, 2014
Publisher: HarperVoyager

Synopsis:

An amazing, award-winning speculative fiction debut novel by a major new talent, in the vein of Ursula K. Le Guin

Global warming has changed the world's geography and its politics. Wars are waged over water, and China rules Europe, including the Scandinavian Union, which is occupied by the power state of New Qian. In this far north place, seventeen-year-old Noria Kaitio is learning to become a tea master like her father, a position that holds great responsibility and great secrets. Tea masters alone know the location of hidden water sources, including the natural spring that Noria's father tends, which once provided water for her whole village.

But secrets do not stay hidden forever, and after her father's death the army starts watching their town-and Noria. And as water becomes even scarcer, Noria must choose between safety and striking out, between knowledge and kinship.

Imaginative and engaging, lyrical and poignant, Memory of Water is an indelible novel that portrays a future that is all too possible.

My Review

As I sit here writing this review with a cup of tea, I realized that tea will never taste the same.  I will be forever reminded of Memory of Water, and the struggles of survival with a limited water supply, and the devotion of the Tea Master's ritual of honoring the ancient traditions.

Noria has a lot of pressure, training to be the next Tea Master, and holding the secret her father is passing down to her.  She lives in a time where global warming and human destruction has changed the course of all the humans left.  Water is scarce, and penalties of a water crime severe.  When Noria is left alone, she has to make some tough choices.

I was in awe how this story flowed as the water flows from the spring.  It was beautifully written, with a unique storyline.  I was thrilled about several twists that you wouldn't expect to unfold before your eyes.  Not only do you experience the thirst of lack of water, but also the thirst to learn about a world that existed before. The ending was not how I expected, however I couldn't imagine it any other way.  Memory of Water is a fast read and easily to get swept into.  This is one story that I fell for some favorite quotes.

I love dystopian novels, and this is one of my favorites.  Possibly the first one I read without a romance, which was refreshing for a change.  Definitely give this one a try.

And Raven has never needed Ven . . . until now.
When there is an attack on Raven’s life, Ven is thrust into the real world, posing as Raven to draw out the people who tried to harm her. But as Ven dives deeper into Raven’s world, she begins to question everything she was ever told. She exists for Raven, but is she prepared to sacrifice herself for a girl she’s never met?

My Ex From Hell by Tellulah Darling Nerd Blast

Check out more HERE at Jean Book Nerd.

This book will be on sale for 99 cents through the book Blast!

Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Sophie Bloom wishes she’d been taught the following:
a) Bad boy’s presence (TrOuBlE) + teen girl’s brain (DraMa) = TrAuMa (Highly unstable and very volatile.)
b) The Genus Greekulum Godissimus is notable for three traits: 1) awesome abilities, 2) grudges, and 3) hook-ups, break-ups, and in-fighting that puts cable to shame.

Prior to the Halloween dance, Sophie figures her worst problems involve adolescent theatrics, bitchy teen yoga girls, and being on probation at her boarding school for mouthy behaviour. Then she meets bad boy Kai and gets the kiss that rocks her world.

Literally.

This breath stealing lip lock reawakens Sophie’s true identity: Persephone, Goddess of Spring. She’s key to saving humanity in the war between the Underworld and Olympus, target numero uno of Hades and Zeus, and totally screwed.

Plus there’s also the little issue that Sophie’s last memory as Persephone was just before someone tried to murder her.

Big picture: master her powers, get her memories back, defeat Persephone’s would be assassin, and save the world. Also, sneak into the Underworld to retrieve stolen property, battle the minions of Hades and Zeus, outwit psycho nymphs, slay a dragon, rescue a classmate, keep from getting her butt expelled from the one place designed to keep her safe …

… and stop kissing Kai, Prince of the Underworld.

My Ex From Hell is a YA romantic comedy, Greek mythology smackdown. Love meets comedy with a whole lot of sass in book one of this teen fantasy romance series. Compared to Kai and Sophie, Romeo and Juliet had it easy.
