Title: The Scorpio Races
 Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Publish Date: Published October 18th 2011 by Scholastic Inc.

It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die. At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them. Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

Rise of the Fallen Review *ADULT*

Title: Rise of the Fallen
 Author: Donya Lynne
Publish Date: Phoenix Press; 1 edition (March 23, 2012)

Synopsis:
In the streets of Chicago exists an uneasy, centuries-old truce between vampires and their distant cousins, a race of shifters called drecks. Vampire enforcement agency, All the King’s Men (AKM), is charged with maintaining the truce, but when volatile enforcer Micah Black loses his mate and falls into the biological agony that results from the broken bond, he tests the boundaries of the truce by seeking out Apostle, a leader in the dreck community. Micah wants Apostle to kill him, a request Apostle is more than happy to fulfill. When ex-Army medic Samantha Garrett inadvertently disrupts the plot and saves Micah’s life, a chain reaction sets Micah’s heart on a collision course with Sam’s, but he will have to protect her from Apostle and her obsessive ex-husband, Steve, if they will have a chance at forever. Can Micah hold his emotions together to keep Sam alive?
Micah, an AKM soldier who does what he wants and never follows the rules, sets himself on a self destructive course after losing his mate, and the second mate at that. He cares about nothing, especially his own life, when he decides to make a deal with Apostle, that he would have the honor of killing him.

Sam, stumbles across the fight and beating, and by a stroke of luck, manages to save Micah’s life even though he was upset with her for doing so. Sam takes him back to her place, not knowing what else to do with him, and he starts to heal before her very eyes.

Micah realizes that he has no choice but to protect Sam because Apostle will be after her for giving him the satisfaction of killing Micah. Because of several drastic events, Micah has no choice but to tell Sam of his world.

Who doesn’t love a hot and steamy story? I myself, am not so interested in a mushy romance novel but you add brute vampires into the mix, who fall hard for their mates, I am SO there.

The beginning of Micah’s story is so heart wrenching. He is a bad-a$$ vampire who loves and falls hard over his mates. As the story progresses, you learn more about All the King’s Men and their mission. I can see so many stories unfolding for each character in this story. They are all unique with different personalities and I cannot wait to read about their stories as this new world unfolds. It’s definitely action packed. In addition, I love the fact that Sam is not a pansy helpless girl. She can definitely hold her own and you learn more about her individual story also. Don’t worry, there is no mushy romance in this story…it’s toe-curling hotness that will keep you wanting more of All the King’s Men for sure!

Bio of Donya Lynne:
As a little girl, Donya always had a book in her hand. As she got older, the books became pens and notebooks, which she filled with stories and poetry. For as long as she remembers, she has been writing and dreaming up stories. Seems writing was her destiny.
Donya loves music and often finds inspiration for her stories in the wide range of music she listens to. But occasionally it's a movie, a book, or just a drive around town that inspires her work.
She has several projects planned and in progress, including eight more novels in the All the King's Men series and several short stories and novellas. She would love to share her journey with you.

Hana Review

Title: Hana
Author: Lauren Oliver
Publish Date: Published February 28th 2012 by HarperCollins Publishers

 Synopsis:
In the world of Delirium, love is a disease. And like all eighteen-year-olds, Lena and Hana must take the cure. At the start of their last summer of freedom, they were the closest of friends. Until Hana made a decision that tore them apart... In Delirium, we heard from Lena. Now, Hana gets to tell her side of the story. And nothing is what we first thought. Hana is a powerful, moving and beautifully told original eBook short story, with a shocking twist that will leave you with your heart in your mouth.

I am a complete Lauren Oliver fan. I had the pleasure of meeting her on my birthday last year for a Delirium signing. And wow, it was the best birthday EVER!!

Hana is visiting the underground parties and following a boy that she has started to like. Hana is upset about Lena and her friendship being so distant. She wants to reach out to her but does not know how. She thinks that Lena is against what she is doing, but does not know that Lena has her own secret with Alex.

Hana is Delirium written in Hana’s point of view. You get the impression that Hana is a fun and energetic girl living life to the fullest until her cure. But wow, you find out in this short story that there is so much more to Hana than you ever expected. She is unsure about herself, not as confident as she leads on. She doubts the cure, misses her friendship with Lena, and puts herself in danger more than once. I think this whole Delirium story is so incredible, and loved Hana’s point of view. The ending, completely catches you by surprise and ends with an intense explosion. My heart literally ached.
