Perception Review

Title: Perception

Author: Lee Strauss

Publish Date: Published September 12th 2012 by ESB Publishing

Synopsis:
Seventeen year old Zoe Vanderveen is a GAP—a genetically altered person. She lives in the security of a walled city on prime water-front property along-side other equally beautiful people with extended life spans. Her brother Liam is missing. Noah Brody is a natural who lives on the outside. He leads protests against the GAPs and detests the widening chasm they’ve created between those who have and those who don’t. He doesn’t like girls like Zoe and he has good reason not to like her specifically. Zoe’s carefree life takes a traumatic turn. She’s in trouble and it turns out that Noah, the last guy on earth she should trust, is the only one who can help her. PERCEPTION is a ( SF/mystery/romance) Young Adult novel that takes place in the not-too-distant future in a world changed by climate extremes, natural disasters and impending wars, and where scientific breakthroughs cause class divisions—both financially and philosophically. It explores the clash between faith and science and how differences can separate us as enemies or ally us together. And in some cases, even in the midst of betrayal and personal crisis, there’s room to fall in love. This is the first book in a planned three book series.

Perception is a mixture of Sci-fi, Dystopia, Mystery, and Romance all wrapped up in an insanely incredible Story. These ingredients will feed your imagination and leave your mind fulfilled!

Zoe has the perfect life. She is rich, beautiful, gorgeous boyfriend: a GAP with no worries…. Until her brother, Liam, goes missing. Zoe is distraught over this, and upset with her parents and authorities for not being more concerned. She knows this is out of character for Liam, and decides to do some investigating herself. This investigation takes her to the Outside, where the Naturals live. She only has one clue to go on, however, she runs into Noah, the son of her parent’s housekeeper. He agrees to help her, with the aid of his connections. What they discover will flip Zoe’s life upside down, and put her in danger.

OMG! Yep, there it is….OMG….this was such an amazing story; I couldn’t put it down and read it in a day. I loved the sci-fi/dystopia/mystery blend of goodness in this story. Even though Zoe is a GAP, her bond with her brother and her drive to find the truth goes against all the norms that she was raised to believe in. Watching the romance start from the beginning between Zoe and Noah was such a rush, and I was rooting for them along the sidelines from the moment they first met. The plot was filled with unexpected turns that you will not see coming, and the clues will leave you wondering. It is full of interesting characters, and some you will quickly learn to despise.

I am excited to learn that this is the first book of three. When you find a story and characters that you love, you don’t ever want the story to end!! I’m excited to see where Zoe and Noah’s adventure leads to, and what the future holds for them. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS ONE!!!!
