SYNOPSIS:
Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to
reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the
promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her
bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She
inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her
luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and
awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.
Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv---wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.
Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.

My Review
The Howling Heart takes the whole werewolf lore to a different level with a twist that will completely surprise you.
Paige and her parents are vacationing in their cabin in Black River, Colorado. It is a remote area with extreme beauty. However, Paige's mom doesn't want to be there. Her parents fight constantly and young Paige just wants to get away. She runs away into the woods, where she meets a wolf pup, and gets lost. After she is found, they leave immediately because her mother doesn't want anymore to do with the cabin.
Flash to the future, Paige has grown into a young adult who is slowly climbing the ladder at a fashion magazine, Elle. She gets offered a job of a life time, however she is unable to enjoy the excitement when her father dies unexpectedly. Paige was close with her father. He understood her, however, getting along with her mother is the complete opposite. In his will, he leaves Paige the cabin at Black River. Which was a complete surprise because she thought he had sold it years ago.
Paige decides to take a leave from work, and go check out the cabin to see if she wants to keep it or sell it. Paige thinks it will be quiet in this remote community, however, from the moment she enters town, her life will be changed forever and filled with adventure.
I really enjoyed the originality of this story. How the Norse Gods created the Varulv was unique and inspiring. I love the Norse Gods, and was excited to see them play a part in this story. The Varulv....I was completely floored how they are actually wolves first, that can change into human form. That was very interesting to discover which goes into detail later in the story and you reach those OMG moments. Read the book and you will understand what I'm saying!!
When Paige and Riley meet, instant chemistry. You feel the heat from the attraction radiating from the pages, and know without a doubt that they have to be together. A human and a wolf, secrets broken, of course it's not going to be easy. There are hurdles to overcome and a battle that can't be avoided.
If you are looking for a gritty, steamy and unique werewolf read, The Howling Heart is just what you need. You will be drawn into the Varulv world and never want to leave.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR.
April Bostic is a New Jersey-based, Adult Romance author who enjoys
unleashing her creativity and letting her imagination run wild. Her love of
romance books inspired her to become not just a reader, but also a writer. In
December 2008, she self-published her first novel, a contemporary romance with
a supernatural twist entitled "A Rose to the Fallen".
Her first short story, "Right Here, Right Now",
released in January 2012, is an erotic romance with a dash of S&M. The
following year, she released two more short stories: a romantic urban fantasy
inspired by the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche entitled "Eros, My
Love", and a sexy romantic comedy entitled "Love Addiction".
After five years, she released her second novel, "The
Howling Heart" in August 2013, a paranormal romance that delves into the
mystical world of werewolves and Norse gods. To end her busiest year in
publishing, April also released her fourth short story
in December 2013, a historical paranormal romance entitled "A Dark
Scandal".
