Fallen Star
North Star Trilogy #1
When ordinary guy, E.J. McCarty, crosses paths with not-so-ordinary Annie Wilson, extraordinary things happen. For E.J., it’s the start of a great adventure. For Annie, it’s an escape from colossal failure. But thanks to fate–and Amtrak–they’re thrust together on the cross-country ride of their lives.
E.J. and Annie like each other, so what’s the problem? Rock star/actress Cassandra Lawrence is the problem. Despite their obvious attraction to each other, Cassandra’s history in show biz and distrustful nature conspire to keep them apart.
Can E.J. break down the walls Cassandra has built around Annie? Can Annie learn to trust E.J. enough to let him even try? And what’s with E.J.’s bizarre dreams about the North Star? From Chicago, through the heartland and all the way to the Malibu Pier, they struggle to accept that while faith, hope and love are important, trust is the key to the future.

My Review

Fallen Star is a romance that is sweet, funny, and will take you on an Amtrak ride that you will never forget.

E.J. has dealt with a lot of heart ache the past few years, so he is about to leave from Chicago on a much needed vacation.  With Las Vegas as his final destination, he decides to take his time and see some sights along the way.  This is a time for him to reflect, and to start piecing his life back together after being put on hold for so long.

Then E.J. meets Annie in Chicago.

I usually don't read romance.  However, this story caught my attention and I was eager to give it a try.  Being a girl from the Midwest, being just hours between Chicago and St. Louis, I completely enjoyed the setting of this story.  Traveling through territory that I know, and places that I have visited, brought back my own memories.

E.J. was raised old school.  Being taught to be polite and put others before himself.  This is a rare quality these days and I fell head over heals for his character.  E.J. is exactly what Annie needs in her life to balance her out.  Their adventure along the rails was fun and humorous as they gradually started to learn more about each other, having fate throw them both on the same path.  Through the story, you gradually learn about each of their pasts, making them into who they are today.  However, you also feel their heartache and loneliness.  It was a refreshing read that still holds a place in my mind a week after I finished it.

Fallen Star is an amazing romance read that will grab your heart, and give you that satisfying feeling that destiny over rules.
