Something Great Cover Reveal

Something Great...July 24th, New Adult novel by author M. Clarke aka Mary Ting (Crossroads Saga)

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.
Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He is everything Jenna does not need in her life. Only Max does not see it that way. His pursuit is relentless making Jenna even more determined to push him away. All she wanted was security, a career, and love that was everlasting.
Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd, but she liked it that way. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner with her best friend, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before just by his mere presence—dangerous, heart pounding, breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show she’d dreamt about since she was a child, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Max, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, charm, smooth words, and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, he was utterly consuming her, mind and body, and in places she’d never thought possible. Would she be willing to step over the boundary and risk her safety net? Was she willing to take advice from her best friend and love hard and risk getting hurt, rather than not really love at all and possibly miss out on finding something great?

Lightning Rider Book Tour and Review

Title: Lightning Rider

Author: Jen Greyson

Publish Date: Expected publication: May 30th 2013 by The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House

Synopsis:
For Evy Rivera, thunderstorms have always caused her physical pain, but she's never known why. When a record-setting storm arrives on the same night her father finds ancient ancestral documents, Evy is set aglow with mysterious tiny lightnings she can command. Even worse, she alerts some people in the universe who've been looking for her family for a very long time. Thrown back into ancient Spain and tasked with killing a Spanish legend, she must train alongside Constantine, a sexy yet obstinate Roman warrior. He teaches her how to wield her lightning as a weapon, through more errors than trials. With a relationship as explosive as their late-night training sessions, Evy and Constantine battle their push-pull relationship while trying to ignore the two-thousand-year difference in their birthdates. Ilif Rotiart, her quasi-mentor, is appalled at Evy's skill. He would prefer to train her father and keep Evy on the sidelines—where women belong. Evy has a feeling Ilif is keeping something from them, but she must play nice until she uncovers the truth. And if he's lying, it will be the worst day of his four-hundred-year life. Penya Sepadas claims she's Evy's rightful trainer, and she has the prophecy to prove it. Penya doesn't share Ilif's misogynistic attitude, but she does have her own agenda...and her own secrets. Evy must sort through the lies and find the truth behind her family's time-traveling past before the wrong history obliterates the future. She’s spent her whole life fighting for her place. Now, as the first female lightning rider, she'll dedicate her existence to fighting to save the world. But will Evy learn to manage her lightning and find the truth before it's too late?
From the moment I started reading this story, I knew I was going to love the original and unique concept of the Lightning Rider. This story was action packed from beginning to end. Evy is a strong and powerful character, which I found intriguing because a lot of regular kick butt heroes grow into themselves. Evy is straight up hardheaded and independent. Except when it comes to love. She takes her new ability as being a lightning rider and time traveler in stride, completely accepting it and going full throttle. Evy is wise to question those she should trust.

The traveling to a different time was amazingly descriptive, drawing the reader into the story. The ability to change a moment in time to better the future generations was written very well and easy to follow. Of course, there is that person who wants to interfere to bring the conflict to his favor; however, he does not expect Evy’s abilities.

Constantine, oh boy, what can I say about Constantine…the Roman warrior who believes in giving his life for the cause and will do anything to protect his home country. Constantine has his own personal battles that have hardened him into the denoted warrior; however, he wonders what kind of spell Evy has put upon him. You cannot deny the attraction there. Can Evy have a relationship with a person that existed thousands years before her? Well, I hope she can figure that one out, because Constantine is too good to let go!

The story ends with a cliffhanger…you know the kind that leaves you frustrated because you do not want the story to end. However, that is a good thing, because it leaves me knowing that there will be more to the story I do not want to end.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED THE CAUSE TO SAVE SEA TURTLES FROM EXTINCTION!

I've always believed that magic hides in special places. As a child, people would often stare at my bright red hair, which was very, very bright indeed.
Unfortunately, I developed a bad habit of making up rhymes about all of them, and they soon became funny characters. I didn't have much time to think about being different; fanciful lyricisms danced in my head, and no one was safe!
Since then, I've come to believe that storytelling has the power to inspire a deep love of language and learning. Words tripping off the tongue in somersaults that stick to your thoughts like taffy-- those are the things that stay forever in the mind.
I've lived in many special places: on a farm, in a city skyscraper, on a tropical beach, and in the beautiful country of France. Now I live in northern California, between the redwood forests and the sea. Even though I'm an adult, I'm still as silly as ever.
Many nice words have been used to describe my books, such as fun, engaging, delightful, and whimsical. Some folks say that I deliver timeless messages of love for kids and parents to share again and again; this makes me very happy. I hope that you'll enjoy my stories, too. Captivating children with language is something that I believe in, and I strive to live my life with this always.

One Tiny Secret by Adam Kunz RELEASE DAY BLITZ!!

One Tiny Secret Back Book Blurb
**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for 17+ due to language, violence, and sexual content.

Just one tiny secret has the potential to ruin everything.

Being the daughter of the sheriff in a small town like Holden Ridge means that eighteen-year-old Danielle “Dani” Marks’ life is under constant surveillance. She’s made a habit of staying under the radar by being a floater among social circles at school, which has kept her out of trouble—until now.

After a missing persons case stirs up the entire town, Dani finds herself caught right in the middle of the scandal. When she’s labeled a possible suspect, things quickly go from bad to worse. The sudden return of her old flame, Parker Reed, manages to make her whole situation even more complicated.

When an elusive unknown person begins to blackmail Dani by threatening to reveal her deepest secrets, Dani refuses to play along. That is, until the person’s actions take a violent turn. Holden Ridge loses its sense of quaint town security, and Dani is caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Who can she trust when anyone around her could be a suspect?

One thing’s for certain though: Never underestimate the power of one tiny secret.

My Review

One Tiny Secret is full of suspense and mystery as Dani tries to discover who the stalker is and the reason behind the torment.

Dani, the daughter of the town sheriff, is designing the flyer for the party of the year.  Everyone in town knows about the party, however the police force wants to discover the secret location.

While Dani is going through a box of things, she finds her old walkie talkie that she used to talk with her best friend with next door.  Janice's possessive mother prevented Dani's friendship, and they hadn't spoken in years.  Never dreaming she would answer, Dani tries the walkie talkie to see if it still worked and she answered.  Feeling guilty for all the time apart, Dani invites her to the Halloween party.  At the party, Dani runs into her old boyfriend, Parker.  Parker left early for college without saying goodbye, leaving Dani distraught.

However, the next day, Dani's world is turned upside down.  Chaos erupts in the small town, and Dani receives texts from an unknown caller.  Dani confides in Parker, her sheriff father doesn't believe her, as the whole situation starts to become dangerous for all those around Dani.

One Tiny Secret is Adam Kunz first solo novel, which is packed with suspense and horror.  From the moment I first started reading, I was captivated in the creative story Adam created.  Who is the unknown caller?  Why is this stalker tormenting Dani?  All these questions and more run through your mind as you are trying to solve the mystery.  But don't even try, because you will never see it coming.  The anticipation to reach the end is so demanding, it's a story that you WILL read in one sitting.  Not only is the plot just plain genius, there's a hot romance as truth is revealed and Dani and Parker reunite.

Fields of Elysium by A.B. Whelan

How can love mend a heart full of hate? Small town girl, Molly Bennett, moves to Los Angeles where she becomes an outsider while attending Beverly Hills High School. It seems life cannot be any more dreadful. Then one day after school, something magical happens. On a secluded hike in the Hollywood Hills, Molly chases her disobedient mutt and only friend into a hidden cavern. She stumbles upon a strange glimmering gateway that transports her to Arkana, a planet that is the cradle of an advanced human race. There, teenagers navigate amazing flying vehicles, compete in perilous games for glory, and possess supernatural powers. While Molly tries to wrap her mind around this unbelievable discovery, she meets the alluring and mysterious Victor Sorren. He is a Sentinel Apprentice, whose hatred toward people from Earth is beyond understanding. Yet every time Victor unpredictably saves Molly's life, his heart draws closer to hers, no matter how much he tries to fight against it. It further complicates things that their growing friendship is strictly forbidden. Earth people are prohibited in Arkana, yet Molly continues to cross through the portal to Arkana to see Victor. Torn between their double lives, they go down a dangerous path, from where there is no return and multiple endings. Fields of Elysium is a suspenseful, romantic tale full of forbidden secrets, unimaginable danger, deception, and the never-ending fight for true love.

PRAISE

"The novel's take on otherworldly travel is a compelling one, and the romantic plot will likely appeal to Twilight fans." - Kirkus Reviews

"I expected a good love story with a paranormal twist. I got so much more. I think you should take the chance and read it. Let this book take you on the adventure, fall in love." - Young Adult and Teen Readers

"Fields of Elysium is a fabulous read. ... Whelan paints her faith into the fabric of her story with deft, light brushstrokes, making her work accessible to all, no matter their spiritual beliefs or background." - Readers Favorite

"I escaped into this fantasy world, author, A.B.Whelan, created and I didn’t want Molly to go. From detailed descriptions, to sweet romance, and to all the twist and turns in the story, it had me captivated from page one." - Mary Ting, author of the Crossroads Saga

"Whelan's writing is very vivid and descriptive. It's more formal than the average YA novel, but I enjoyed the lyrical and mesmerizing quality to it. I thought the overall story read like a fairy tale--very sweet." - Megan Thomason, author of Daynight

My Review

Fields of Elysium is captivating in it's unique sci-fi paranormal story combining love, hate, and the ability for forgiveness.

Molly has moved from New Jersey to LA.  She is attending Beverly Hills High were she doesn't fit in with her stylish peers.  Molly has yet to make any friends, or has even been noticed by the other students.

Molly's father is obsessed with her protection, however, tries to make peace with her by buying her a car.  Molly decides to go take a hike with her only best friend, her dog Pandora.  Pandora takes off from her which Molly desperately tries to catch up. Molly follows Pandora into a cave where she makes a huge discovery.

She discovers Arkana, a new world through the wormhole.  She first meets a group of boys and they ask her to join them.  Weston, the first to warm up to her and become her friend, is wealthy and from a prestige family. Victor, the moody boy who has had a difficult life, and thinks it's best for Molly to stay on her own planet. However, the attraction between Molly and Victor can't be denied.

First, I would like to say how much I loved this story.  At first, I didn't know if Arkana was an alternate realm, or if it was a new world. I enjoyed finding out about Arkana, how it was comparable to Earth, but different in a lot of ways.  Molly is out of her element in LA, which makes you think that she is a shy character, but that proves wrong as the story progresses and she travels to Arkana more.  There is a bit of a love triangle between Molly, Weston, and Victor, which causes a conflict between friendships.  The several twists in this story was intriguing.  I felt that the new world was planned out well, from the time differences between worlds, to the advancement in technology.  The paranormal hits at the very end, and very unexpected!  Fields of Elysium is a fun and fast read that I highly recommend.

Angels, fallen angels, nephilims, and Claudia…an amazing group of characters to make and incredible story that you will fall in love with instantly. Claudia is distraught over a close friend who just so happened to have the same name as her. As she is comforted by friends, and exhausted from the grief, she falls asleep and dreams of a dirt road with a field of tall grass to the side. A woman tells her to leave, that she does not belong there. Claudia wakes up, trying to decide how real the dream was. She discovers herself dreaming of the crossroads often, where she meets Michael. She discovers that her dreams are real, and Crossroads is a place between Heaven and Earth. Claudia gradually learns about the Angels, Alkins, and the Fallen. The alkins do not understand why Claudia has been able to come to the Crossroads, and decide that she needs a guardian angel to protect her, and assign Michael to that job. As the Fallen learn of Claudia, she becomes in danger. Michael and his nephilim friends protect her and battle the Fallen. Claudia learns more about herself and truths that have been kept secret. She cannot control the feelings that she has for Michael, even though it is forbidden.

As I read this story, I seriously do not remember seeing the actual words in front of me. I found myself actually seeing the story unfold. I loved the history of the angels that were created and how they are tied to the humans. I could actually feel the nervous butterflies in my stomach as Claudia and Michael’s relationship flourished. Mary Ting’s way of describing the scenes was that wonderful for me. In addition, the battle scenes will make you *gasp*. I will be PATIENTLY waiting for the next book in this series…and I stress that word patiently because seriously, I can’t wait! So if you love fallen angel and Nephilim stories, you will not be disappointed…

Title: Between
Author: Mary Ting
Publish Date: January 12th 2012 by World Castle Publishing

 Synopsis:
As the alkins head back to Crossroads, Claudia leads her normal life; but not for long. Having a special soul, Claudia attracts danger, and she soon finds out who Gamma asked to watch over her. The Twelve, known as Divine Elders on Earth, are very much involved when they find out that Aliah, one of the God’s first angels, escaped from the Abyss when the gates were opened by Aden. Needing Claudia’s soul to escape the only place Aliah can reside–a place between Heaven and Earth–he sends his demons in search of all Claudia Emersons on Earth. Taking her soul will enable him to be released from Between and cross over to Crossroads, which would give him immense power. As more secrets are revealed Claudia learns about the venators—nephilim, demon hunters. Now two opposing forces must work together in order to save Claudia and humanity from the most dangerous angel ever created. But along the way, trust becomes a big issue. Will love be enough to keep Claudia and Michael together? Who will make the ultimate sacrifice? Who will betray them all?
Between takes the Crossroad Saga to a completely new level of intense story telling!

Claudia and Michael’s story continues in Between. New characters are introduced, the Venators. Who are they? Good? Bad? A love triangle unfolds for Claudia. Who could the third be? A new villain is after Claudia and her holy spirit. Will you despise this villain as much as Aiden? Intrigued yet? You should be.

I love a good story with an amazing plot. Mary’s descriptive writing made the words on the page disappear for me. I was IN the story. Watching the battles, hearing the clanging of the swords, and feeling the adrenaline pumping made it come to life. There were points where I laughed, and how can you not with Davin’s personality. In addition, other situations where I literally cried, having to put the story to the side and regroup myself before I could continue. What I mean by crying is the tears flowing, the snotty nose and the whole bit! Ahhh….when you read this story and get to this point, you will know exactly what I’m talking about. So not only is the superb descriptive writing take you into the story, the emotional writing will grab your soul. The ending of this story was so intense; I am literally bouncing in my seat waiting for the third installment of this saga. On a personal note, I want to add how special this saga is to me. If you did not know, Mary wrote this book to help her deal with the loss of her grandmother. I too, lost my grandmother shortly after reading Crossroads, so it holds a very special place in my heart and I cherish that connection that I have with Mary. The passion I have for this story has created a beautiful friendship that means the world to me.

Title: Beyond
Author: Mary Ting
Publish Date: Expected publication: September 12th 2012 by World Castle Publishing
Synopsis:
Torn between the past she can't remember and a future she isn’t ready for, Claudia feels at a loss. With unanswered questions, she is certain there is more to her past than just being a venator. Finding the missing pieces in her life won’t be easy because duty calls. When mysterious dark shadows get released, an apocalypse sets in motion. The venators and the alkins must work together once again. Knowing Claudia would be the key to destroying the demons that were released, a familiar stranger appears to protect her. Drawn to the beautiful angel, Claudia finds she must unravel the mysteries of her past in order to help save the world. Who is the angel assisting her and why does she feel a strong connection to him? Time is running out. Will she discover all the secrets before it’s too late?
The Crossroads Saga continues with Beyond, the third installment in the series.
Claudia is healing after the last battle and Austin has been taking care of her. She laughs at his teasing and flirting, but is ready to start training again with the Venators. Although she is physically healed, she feels there is something different. She does not remember everything and Austin explains to her that she has selective memory.
Dark Shadows were released, who invade human souls and become demons. The Venators and Alkins team together on missions to right this horrible wrong. However, whenever Claudia finds herself in trouble, this person always shows up to save her. She never sees his face, but feels a deep connection to him.
Claudia becomes a little defiant when she decides to go off on her own seeking some answers. Through out the story, she find clues to her past, and tries to piece together those clues to trigger her memory.
I must say the Crossroads Saga is one of my very favorites! Beyond takes the story a bit deeper and darker, with so much action that you will be unable to put it down. My heart would break everytime Michael would show up to the rescue, but unable to be with Claudia the way they should. Davin as usual, is his funny self, and I was extremely excited that he had a bit of his own drama. Austin, well, words can’t describe how I feel about him, only that I hope that someday he finds his “Claudia”. Beyond is written differently than the rest, with a couple different stories going on at once, which collided at the end into a massive finalle. The writing is beautiful, with the images so vivid in my mind that I could swear that I was there. Mary Ting without a doubt knows how to pull the emotions from your soul. With all the Crossroads books, they end with a cliffhanger, which leaves you begging for more.
