Cover Reveal- Stained by Cheryl Rainfield

Book Description:
In this heart-wrenching and suspenseful teen thriller, sixteen-year-old Sarah Meadows longs for "normal." Born with a port-wine stain covering half her face, all her life she’s been plagued by stares, giggles, bullying, and disgust. But when she’s abducted on the way home from school, Sarah is forced to uncover the courage she never knew she had, become a hero rather than a victim, and learn to look beyond her face to find the beauty and strength she has inside. It’s that—or succumb to a killer.

Tag Line:
Sometimes you have to be your own hero.

Release Date:
Nov 19, 2013

Publisher:
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

From the author:
Like I did with SCARS and HUNTED, I drew on some of my own experiences of bullying, abuse, and trauma to write STAINED and to give it greater emotional depth. Like Sarah in STAINED, I experienced abduction, imprisonment, periods of forced starvation, mind control, and having my life threatened. And like Sarah, I tried hard to fight against my abuser, keep my own sense of self, and escape. I hope readers will see Sarah's strength and courage, and appreciate her emotional growth as she reclaims herself.

Rouge Hunter-Inquest Review

Title: Rouge Hunter: Inquest

 Author: Kevis Hendrickson

Publish Date: Published November 1st 2012

Synopsis:
Fearing retribution from ruthless gangsters over an unsettled debt, intergalactic bounty hunter Zyra Zanr ventures to a distant world to collect the reward for Boris Skringler, a notorious terrorist, who has been sentenced to death by political rivals of the InterGalactic Alliance. When she fails to secure his release, she decides to break him out of prison. Zyra soon finds herself an unwilling participant in events that lead to a climactic showdown between the most powerful worlds in the galaxy. Torn between her desperation to rid herself of the threats to her life and her guilt in agitating the conflict between two galactic superpowers, Zyra is horrified to learn that the lives of an entire world of people hinge on her ability to return Skringler to his captors. However, her distrust of Skringler gives way to lust, unraveling her plans. Will Zyra give into her passion and allow Skringler to go free? Or will she surrender him to her enemies to stop an impending war? The fate of billions depend on whether she chooses life for a killer or the death of her lover.

Zyra needs to find Skringler so she can turn him into the InterGalactic Alliance for the bounty to get herself out of some deep trouble. However, Zyra’s plans turn into chaos when Skringler escapes her. With the universe against her, she fights to make things right.

Rouge Hunter is a very fast-paced read for all sci-fi lovers. Zyra is hard-core, however, throughout the story; you discover how she desperately wants to live a normal life. However, can she ever achieve that with the revenge for her father, the enemies she has made, and the constant devastation that follows her? The Universe is not very vast when it comes to Zyra.

I loved all the characters in this story and the twist in the plot was devilish. It just shows how quick an alliance can change. I was able to picture the scenes in my mind easily and my heart ached for Zyra’s dream of normalcy in her life. I love sci-fi novels because the imagination can be endless. Rouge Hunter has plenty of surprises and I look forward to Zyra’s journey.

Provex City Blog Tour

Title: Provex City

 Author: Michael Pierce

Publish Date: Published March 5th 2012

Synopsis:
Fifteen-year-old Oliver Grain begins his school year fighting off bullies, learning about the boy who committed suicide in his room, and trying to understand why his history teacher, Mr. Gordon, has taken such a personal interest in him. Do you believe in ghosts? Do you believe you can make bullies simply disappear? Do you believe you can walk through walls? Mr. Gordon tells Oliver: "When you truly believe anything is possible, you will be able to open doors where there were only walls." And one of those doors leads Oliver to Provex City, which puts him in far greater danger than he can possibly fathom.
Provex City enables you to believe that anything is possible.

Oliver Grain and his family move into a new home. Later, they will discover that a teenage boy committed suicide in one of the bedrooms. That bedroom just happens to be the one that Oliver has chosen.

Oliver decides to stay in the room because he doesn’t want to be picked on by his older brother. Oliver experiences some unexplained events in his room, which makes him believe the distraught boy is still hanging around. As Oliver is trying to deal with this and sharing the experiences with his friends, he is also dealing with bullies at school that continuously make his life miserable.

One of Oliver’s teachers, Mr. Gordon, realizes Oliver’s turmoil, and reaches out to help. This begins Oliver’s training.

I was pleasantly surprised how in depth Provex City was. The training sessions with Mr. Gordon really made you think. A person only uses 20% of their brain which makes you wonder what the other 80% can do. I really felt this story was unique. The plots really kept you on your toes. And I do say plots because there were several going on at once: ghosts, bullies, training…and they all seemed to weave together. Oliver receives help from an unexpected source. His new friends were loyal and fun. Provex City is a remarkable place to visit. It was definitely a fun read and was refreshing to work your mind a bit. I have to admit, I had to read through the training sessions a few times to totally grasp the depth of consciousness…and that’s a good thing!!

Lords of Shifters Blog Tour

Title: Loramendi’s Story

 Author: Angela Carlie

Publish Date: Published August 7th 2011 by Createspace

Synopsis:

Lora wants nothing more than to be the wind behind sexy windsurfer Chance's sails. But fulfilling that wish just became...complicated. After seventeen years of normal life, someone wants Lora and her family dead. And the attempted massacre isn't nearly as strange as the reason behind it.

Lora lives with her godmother. Her mother has been missing for years and no father in the picture either. However, she lives a nice life with her godmother, and has her best friend Jess in her life. Its break from school and Lora has been waiting for Jess to come back from visiting relatives.

There is not much to do in the small town except hike and watch the surfers as they come and go during the tourist season. However, one catches Lora’s eye, and she cannot seem to stop thinking about him.

Chance has the looks of a super model. When Chance approaches Lora, she is thrilled of the interest he shows her. She even thinks she hears him inside her head….crazy!!

When Chance leaves town for a week, Lora and her friends, jess and Johnnie, go on a hike. A bear attacks Lora, and Johnnie saves the day by shooting at it. However, Lora is distraught, and exhaustion seems to take over her life. Is it the shock? Or something more?

Lora soon finds out about what is happening to her, and the truth of her family history. This takes Lora and Chance, who are destined to be together, on an adventure Lora could only imagine in fairy tales.

LOVED Loramendi’s Story. I must say, its stories like this that provokes me to read even more than my already HUGE obsession. I adored all the characters in this story. Chance is yet another fictional character that is totally “SWOON” worthy and I would love to have him say “my Sweet” to me!! The magical world of the shifters heightens my imagination to visually see the dimension it dwells in. Lora transitions into her new roll beautifully. My only downfall to this story is that it ended WAY before I was ready for it to!! The ending definitely left me wanting more answers to the chaos Lora and Chance have yet to endure. Loramendi’s story is fast paced, easy to read and very difficult to put down….(note: don’t read on your lunch break at work!) I truly loved this story and highly recommend it!

Here is a little look into the other stories in the Lords of the Shifters Series

Spider Wars:
What happens when a species is tired of being stomped on?

Jess' life has never been ordinary. After all, life on the road with an immortal family of gypsies is hardly predictable. Living in the small town of White Salmon, Washington has brought some normality to her life. But when her cheating, sometimes boyfriend, Nicu, gets involved with a group of arachneshifters, life gets a little sticky. Will she be able to save him from the web he's spun? More importantly, how much is she willing to risk to get him back?

Dark Horse:
Amethea thought she was the last of her kind, a creature from mythical stories, from light, peace, and magic. But, Amethea isn't a myth, and she doesn't hold any peace in her heart. She watched as her family was murdered for the magic of their horns. She'd give anything to avenge their deaths. She just hasn't figured out how yet.

When she meets another, Cerus, everything changes. Together, they harness more power than Amethea ever dreamed. But is it enough to take down the Lords of Shifters?

We all have demons hidden deep in the crevices of history. Johnnie's have busted out, exposed for all to see. But he doesn't care that everyone knows. Just Jess. She's got a front row seat to the Johnnie's demon show, and Johnnie's about to find out that he hasn't met all of them yet.

by C.A. Kunz

Book Blurb:

Just one tiny secret…has the potential to ruin everything.

Being the daughter of the sheriff in a small town like Holden Ridge means that Danielle “Dani” Marks’ life is under constant surveillance. After a missing persons case stirs up the entire town, Dani finds herself caught right in the middle of the scandal. When she’s labeled as a possible suspect, things quickly go from bad to worse. Not to mention the resurfacing of an old flame, in the form of her ex-best friend’s swoon-worthy older brother, only makes matters more complicated.
Then an elusive person begins to blackmail Dani by threatening to reveal her deepest secrets if she doesn't cooperate. When she refuses to play along, the person’s actions take a violent turn, and the quaint town of Holden Ridge completely loses its false sense of security.

What's New at Insane About Books

So, my goal this year is to blog more.  I tend to read more than I review, however, I ALWAYS do reviews on requests from Authors, Blog Tours, and such.  SO, to help me out a little, I am going to do a few things to help me blog more.

I am a mother of three, working a full time job, so sometimes life gets the best of me.  With supper, helping with homework, sometimes at night, all I want to do is sit and read to relax!  Therefor, not much blogging.

But FIRST, I would like to thank Trajce from ILOVETEENBOOKS for helping me with some graphics.  Trajce is a teenager from Macedonia and he is an amazingly bright young man whom I have been honored to meet thru blogging.  THANK YOU TRAJCE!

SO this is my graphic for mini reviews.  I will always write a full review for requests from authors.  Other books I read for my own enjoyment, I will just post a mini review.

I am going to also try and do In My Mailbox more often started by the Story Siren.

This is for Cover reveals

This is something I just thought of.  I follow so many bloggers and Authors, and see LOTS of cool stuff on Facebook...I don't know if anyone else does this, but I thought if I found something interesting, I would share it through my Facebook Finds.  It could be a free ebook, a cover reveal, a giveaway, a quote from an author...the list can be endless.  I will always give credit to the Blogger, Author, or friend where I found it from.  And provide a link to the facebook page, blog or author.  I never want to upset anyone, but I feel that if it's on a social networking site, it's up to share.

If you like this idea, feel free to use it!!

I also want to be involved in more Book Tours...and I plan on signing up to do more Book Blasts for I am a Reader, Not a Writer and CBB.

So, there you go....this is my plan for the new year.  I sure hope I can stick to it!!
